Una niña de 13 años de la etnia wichí falleció ayer en la provincia de Chaco, Argentina, después de que el martes falleciera su bebé. La niña, cuyo embarazo había sido fruto de una violación, estaba desnutrida y sufría una enfermedad respiratoria.
La niña murió por una falla multiorgánica, y su cuadro era muy grave: tenía anemia, desnutrición crónica y neumonía. El pasado viernes, una familiar la acompañó a un puesto sanitario a causa de la fiebre que sufría. De ahí, la derivaron al hospital más cercano, de donde la volvieron a derivar a otro hospital. La niña, que apenas pesaba 40 kilos, sufría una infección generalizada, y en una ecografía se confirmó que estaba embarazada de siete meses.
Le realizaron una cesárea de urgencia, por el riesgo para la salud del feto y la madre. El bebé pesó poco más de un kilo. El martes, falleció.
La niña no estaba escolarizada. Su madre había muerto hacía dos años, de su padre no se sabía nada. Su abuela cuidaba de su hermana de cuatro años, y su pareja no apareció.
El caso evidencia la precariedad de esa zona de Argentina, una zona muy pobre, por la que apenas hay servicio médico. La pobreza de Chaco hace que muchos niños y adolescentes dejen la escuela para trabajar. Las cifras de embarazos precoces son muy altas, muchos producto de abusos sexuales, cometidos la mayoría por miembros de la propia familia de la víctima.
Tenía 13 años, un embarazo producto de una violación, desnutrición y una enfermedad respiratoria. El aborto hubiera sido legal, pero ya sabemos lo que pasa aún en los casos legales en Argentina. La hicieron parir. El bebé murió ayer. Hoy murió ella. Ahí están tus dos vidas.
