El martes pasado tres adolescentes publicaron una fotografía en Instagram. En la imagen aparecían tres adolescentes polacas realizando el saludo nazi delante de las puertas del campo de concentración de Auschwitz. Las críticas por la publicación llegaron pronto y las jóvenes decidieron eliminar la foto, pero la imagen había sido vista ya por las autoridades del Museo que se pusieron en contacto con la Fiscalía de la ciudad polaca de Oswiecin, donde está ubicado el memorial.

Pawel Sawicki, portavoz del Museo Estatal de Auschwitz-Birkenau comentó sobre lo ocurrido como un «comportamiento impactante, especialmente en un lugar tan trágico donde personas inocentes fueron encarceladas y asesinadas como resultado de una ideología criminal del nazismo alemán. Es muy doloroso que los jóvenes actúen así», finalizó.
Por otro lado, el grupo de Facebook «Centro para el monitoreo de comportamientos racistas y xenófobos» comentó sobre la fotografía que este tipo de «bromas» no hace más que demostrar la necesidad de una educación sobre los horrores del Holocausto y los sistemas totalitarios.
La ley polaca prohíbe los discursos de odio basados en la religión y la promoción de la ideología fascista con penas de prisión de hasta tres años convirtiendo las acciones de las tres jóvenes en ilegales. Las autoridades locales están buscando la identidad de las adolescentes para poder notificarlo a la escuela donde estudian.
